A lovely combination of a walk alongside the enormous Grand Bassin of the Canal du Midi, and the chance to see this typically French town and pick up picnic supplies or just enjoy a leisurely coffee or lunch.
On cooler days it's worth arriving with a good appetite as this is the home of the famous cassoulet - a sturdy meal with a haricot bean base and both pork and duck as the meaty ingredients. It's too heavy for summer dining, so if you're here in summer why not get a tin to take home to cheer up a freezing UK February? Tins come in all sizes, from large to huge, and travel well.
