Cavaillon is a completely un-special town, and that is a big part of its charm. You'll find very reasonably priced cafes and restaurants, a good selection of general and specialist food shops and a choice of walks here as well.

The big deal here is melons, and Cavaillon is France's melon capital with all sorts of events, celebrations and melon competitions in August.

The only serious nod to tourism is a large Roman arch in front of the Tourist Office, which is a very handy landmark but otherwise looks like an archway in need of a some chariots.
