Just a short walk for potty breaks for the dogs and leg stretching for the humans. We usually go in May and there are lovely patches of bluebells.
The A82 road runs from Inverness down to Glasgow and travels along the side of Loch Ness. Invermoriston is 26 miles south of Inverness, 6 miles north of Fort Augustus.
The car park is large and has a picnic area. Quite often you will see Highland cattle in the field at the side of the car park. There is a little general store/post office where you can buy food just across the road.
The walk starts off the car park at Invermoriston. The path goes through a wooded area but trees have been blown down in the storms and the paths can be slightly inaccessible at a couple of points. There are two paths to choose from, one goes by the side of the river and there is a very old summer house built onto the rocks with wonderful views of the river.
Not suitable for people with severe mobility issues. I have arthritis in my legs and hips but I can manage it comfortably.
