Lovely riverside walk around edge of Public Park. Ideal if you want nice scenery but don't want to be too far from civilisation.

Details

GPS coords for car park: 56.1899, -3.9651 What3Words: ///dimension.native.inched  Footbridges now have disabled access. Some shallow areas in river suitable for paddling. If you are lucky you might see a Heron!

Walk

Start from the car park next to Dunblane Cathedral. Take the left walkway down to the river and then turn right heading up river. If you just want a short 15 min walk cross the first footbridge, turn right and then cross back using the 2nd footbridge further up stream. Alternatively, you can follow the river upstream for a mile or so beyond the 2nd footbridge and either re-trace your steps or climb the steep hill away from the river and cross the top of the hill before exiting near the children's playground area.

Summer holiday stop off

Stopped here based on the info given as a brief rest while travelling from the lakes to Pitlochry. The cathedral is beautiful and the walk along the river just lovely. If you do go that little bit further, you walk through a little park (map added) and there’s space for the dog to have a run off the lead if they have good recall, and plenty of spots in the river for a dip if that’s their thing (or yours!). The car park isn’t huge so if you’ve got a longer campervan or motorhome you might struggle if it’s busy. We went on a Sunday in a 5.6m Fiat Ducato camper and managed to park on an end where we weren’t bothering anyone. Could easily have stayed longer by the river for a picnic. Or there is a lovely Tilly’s tea shop just around the corner from the cathedral that is dog friendly.
