Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

Edited: 6th March 2020

Bamburgh dog-friendly beach and dog-friendly pubs, Northumberland

Bamburgh is a fantastic place for dogs, and the dunes and beach behind the castle are wide and spacious enough for the most energetic hound.

Facilities in Bamburgh. Dog poo bins. P&D parking. Guide dogs only in the castle grounds.  The Bamburgh Castle Inn is dog-friendly  The Castle Inn - dogs allowed in the beer garden, but not inside  The Wynding Inn - dog-friendly in the bar.

From the castle car park, follow the clearly signed paths behind the castle to walk across the extensive dunes to reach the enormous, sandy beach. This is a fantastic place for dogs who love to swim, and don’t forget to bring chuckers or frisbees if your dog's a chaser. We turned left on the beach and enjoyed a lengthy stroll as far as the lighthouse before returning the same way.

Huge free car park

Park in the large free car park beneath the castle and stroll through the dunes to the beach. No dog restrictions on the beach, so perfect on a clear breezy evening for a run to blow the cobwebs away!
