The name of Omaha beach is well known because of the Normandy landings, and there is a large American cemetery on the way to the beach (no dogs in there).

These days, the big sandy beach and gently sloping dunes for walking are an ideal spot to take a break, bask in the sun for a bit and take your pick from a number of cafes for a snack.
