Wonderful little pub with a warm and friendly welcome, and good food.
Parking in small pub car park, or in the village community car park up the road. Public WCs on the lane between the pub and the sea. Pub is also home to the village shop.
Beach: Walk down the traffic-free lane beside the pub and this brings you to the seashore. We saw this at high tide, when there was no beach just rocks and some outstanding rockpools.
A good walk is from the entrance to the village car park, opposite the craft shop and church. Turn left at the footpath sign and head up the hill. The shade is welcome on a hot day. At the top, there are outstanding views and plenty of fresh air.
The coast path to Ilfracombe goes either from the beach, or just walk up the lane opposite the Grampus. It's a fine walk and the path doesn't go too close to the edge. Watch out for cows in the fields, they seem to be lively and fast-moving.
