Very much in the middle of nowhere, and yet you may have to detour via the old road over Dartmoor to avoid holiday traffic on the A30. Also a good place to introduce kids to the idea of wild camping (with back up!).
Basic camping field with a drinking water supply and use of pub toilets. Flat rate for tents/campervans and you need to book ahead.
Once you're over the river and railway line, this becomes a good doggie run-around. Walk on the road past the side of the pub and then turn right onto a marked walkers' route and access lane. Follow this to cross the river and the start of the Teign Valley Railway, and turn right. Walk a short way on the lane and then turn left at a public footpath post, opposite the engineering works, and up the bank and into a field.
