Loosely part of Sherwood Forest, the walk here starts in one of Nottinghamshire's more upmarket villages.
Free parking. Pubs, and a fish and chip shop, in Farnsfield.
This is a flat walk with no stiles on the Southwell Trail - created from the bed of a former railway line. Although it's a linear walk, the view does look different on the return journey. There's plenty of wildlife, we've seen otters here, and it's a quiet and relaxed walking space. Weekends in summer can see cyclists on the multi-user path, but it's nothing like as hectic as similar routes in the more crowded Peak District.
