Very easy to follow circular dog walk on a Public Footpath around a reservoir, with fields and an old railway line too. The walks is a good one - but sadly the pub is no longer dog-friendly.
The Plough is no longer dog-friendly.
Length of walk: 40 minute circular walk
Walk past the pub as far as Langden Fold. Next to the sign is a ginnel marked with a Public Footpath sign leading you behind the houses, passing a dog poo bin on the left hand side.
Climb over the stile at the end, this has a dog gate, onto a grassy disused railway bed. Walk as far as a concrete post on the right, and then go down the embankment to a public footpath sign and cross a stile, with dog gate, to continue to the reservoir path ahead. Turn left on joining this path and follow it round with the raised reservoir to the right.
Go over a stile on the right and walk through this field, passing a farmhouse on the left, to climb over the stile at the end. Turn right and over a ‘tower' stile to rejoin the path around the reservoir – finally visible here.
Follow the walkway around the water, and go down the steps when it is impossible to go any further. Dog leads on here, as the alleyway ahead leads back to the road.
For a 40 minute walk, turn right here and walk along the road for 10 minutes to return to the pub.
For a longer walk with no road walking, turn round and retrace the route. We did this and enjoyed a very scenic picnic by the reservoir.
