One of London's biggest breathing spaces, Hampstead Heath is great for dogs - especially on weekday mornings after joggers have gone to work.
There's a lot going on, especially in the summer, and dogs need to be well under control to avoid offending cyclists, joggers, children, horse riders and other people.
Dog poo bins well sited at major entrance points.
Hampstead Heath has a number of car parks, which can be found on this downloadable map. The car parks are open between 7.30am and 8.30pm daily.
Car parking charges: Up to 2 hours - £1.60; 2-4 hours - £3.20; every hour thereafter - £3.20
Parking with a valid disabled persons blue badge is free of charge.
At over a thousand acres, first time visitors to the heath may find this City of London download helpful.
