Accessible by car, there are 2 beautiful reservoirs set in the Pentland park which overlooks Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. The views are amazing.
The walk itself can be as gentle or demanding as you want with either a gentle stroll round the reservoirs in the woodland around it or walking on the beach-like shore of threipmuir reservoir, the biggest one. After a walk here with its many varied areas, ie woodland, marsh, sandy shores, moorland and hills (some quite high) it can be a jolt coming back to reality. I am really addicted now and walked over 10 miles on Monday from Harlaw to Glencorse and back again. Another great thing about this place is the way the scenery changes so dramatically depending on the rainfall. The water level rises and drops all the time, revealing all that is usually underwater and invisible to us. Very interesting it is too.
