This village was one of the earliest purpose-built industrial villages in Britain and a major centre for lead and silver mining. They must have been tough to live and work here back in the day. We can enjoy a visit to the mines (not dogs) and a leisure walk where people used to risk lead pollution and shocking conditions to earn a living. Good history visit for kids if you can manage it.
