Woodland is always great for dogs to enjoy some off-lead space and you're very likely to have a lot of track to yourself here.  The wood is close to the A711 and has free parking and no livestock or stiles.  Apparently in days gone by customs officials would perch themselves at the top of the hill with a telescope to try and catch smugglers bringing contraband in from the Isle of Man!
