A leisurely stroll beside a river along a flat path. There is some street walking but as Lostwithiel is a lovely village, this is not a hardship.
The postcode is for the free but limited riverside parking on Quay Street. In addition, there is parking at Pleyber Christ Way behind North Street, which is also free - Lostwithiel PL22 0EF (follow the Parking sign). Toilets are on Church Lane, ordinance survey reference SX10440 59797, these are well signed.
From the Pleyber Christ Way car park, keep King George VI Playing field on your left (no dogs allowed), and the doctor's surgery on your right onto North Street. Cross North Street following the Riverside Walk sign which directs you along Monmouth Lane toward the junction of Fore Street with the Parade. Cross over the road onto Quay Street. The Co-Op grocery shop with ATM is on the left. Don't be put off by this first view of the river. Continue down Quay Street, following the River Fowey under a railway bridge, and into Coulson Park. This is a good open green space with shallow access into the river for any four legged swimmers.
Meander along the Coulson Park footpath beside the river for as little or as long as you have the time, before retracing your steps.
White Light Café and Fair-Trade Gift shop on Quay Street is highly recommended for breakfast and coffee. Please note, this café does not have toilet facilities. However, the public toilets on Church Lane are just a five minute walk away.
