Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

M11 Junction 8 dog walk in the forest, Essex

Over a thousand acres of ancient woodland, with several car parks, cafe and limitless picnic spots. This is a great place for a doggiestop in the summer, less good in winter as the car parking is limited (soggy fields).

National Trust car park charge, NT members free. Lakeside Cafe (baked potatoes, sandwiches, cakes). Trail guides available from entrance kiosk, and NT products on sale at shop by the lake. All-terrain pushchairs for loan. Dogs that may chase wildlife or livestock must be kept on leads. Other dogs may be off-lead except by the lake. Marked trails around the forest, and discovery trail for children.  Birchhanger Green Services (Welcome Break) are on the exit roundabout from the M11.

There are a number of planned trails within this enormous forest and the exact routes can be bought from the NT shop. If you're just here for a short stroll, then it's easy to find a convenient pathway from your start point and ramble at whim through the forest.
