M5 Junction 18 Castle dog walks and cafe, Gloucestershire

Premium

Description

Much more than a motorway stop, this is a dog-walkers' delight and popular for a dog day out in the Bristol area.   The dog-friendliness of the estate is obvious as soon as you walk towards the café, and are greeted by a large contemporary dog sculpture, with built-in water bowl.

Great place to stop for both dogs and humans

Stopped here for a leg stretch and run during the November 2020 lockdown. It was lunchtime on a Friday. The cafe was open and serving takeaway food and drinks which were good. The park was very busy but there was plenty of room and lots of room for an energetic spaniel to enjoy himself. There were plenty of paths through the woodland. All leaf covered but a little muddy in places as there had been plenty of rain in previous days. We didn't follow any particular walk, and I don't remember seeing too many, if any, signposts, but if was definitely a spot we would go back to if in the area.

Great place to stop

This is a great place to stop and stretch your legs and there is a cafe, toilets and park close to the car park. It has been raining heavily before we arrived but there is a proper path to walk along to avoid the mud as well as a woodland trail which would be lovely in the summer. There is also large grassy areas, ideal for letting your dog off the lead . Bowie loved it here and we would definitely stop here again

We were grateful for a stop here on a hot day in July, although as it was Saturday it took us longer than expected to reach the estate from the motorway. It was very busy but we were still able to park easily and found outdoor cafe seating too. Lots of open space for ball games adjacent to the car park, cafe and playground, but we headed thankfully for the cool of the woods where we had a lovely walk with Henry.
