M5 Junction 29 forest dog walk, Devon

Premium

Description

Length of walk: 40 minutes for the Purple trail.

This ancient forest is managed by the National Trust, and is famous for its butterflies in July and August. According to the NT website, if you visit the forest during July and August wearing orange or red clothing you will attract the immensely curious 'Happiness Butterfly' (or silver-washed fritillary).

Well worth a visit if you're staying in the area, between Exeter and Cullompton.

Great Walk, but be very careful after lots of rain, the paths are very wet, slippery and muddy, make sure you wear boots, and have plenty of towels to dry and clean up your fury four legged friends.
