Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

M5 Junction 4 Waseley Hills dog walks and cafe, Worcestershire

Description

Clear open landscape to enjoy here, including the source of the River Rea. The view from the top of the hill is sensational, and definitely worth the climb.   The location of this walk is ideal to give the dog (and kids) a break before heading in or out of Birmingham and the industrial Midlands.

Details

GPS coords for car park: 52.4019, -2.0425  Pay & Display car park. Disabled permit holders free. Open sunrise to sunset. WC+disabled, visitor centre - opens at 10am, café, children's play area. Poo bins provided throughout the park.

Walk

There are two clearly marked walks here: the Fox Trail (1.5 hours) makes a circuit of the whole park with orange markers, and the Badger Trail (30-40 minutes and purple markers) which gives magnificent views of the Black Country and Worcestershire.   Both trails are marked from the visitor centre, and leaflets are also available at 25p which describe the route and interesting detail about the area.   Clear open landscape to enjoy here, including the source of the River Rea.   If the trails are busy, there is plenty of room to roam around here – but don't miss the truly sensational views from the top of the hill.

Lovely Views and Walk

Plenty of space for off lead exercise but just be aware that at certain times of the year there are cattle grazing in some areas. Lovely views of the surrounding area and a nice cafe for refreshments after your walk. When Lickey hills is busy (weekends in summer) Waseley is usually quieter.

Dogs not allowed in cafe

Lovely place for a walk with the dog , however, I was surprised that the cafe doesn't allow dogs anywhere in it. I was on a long journey, but walked my dog in the rain presuming he (and I) would be able to get warm and dry off in the cafe. Sadly, we weren't allowed. I was travelling by myself and the staff kindly sorted us food and a drink, but we had to stay outside. There was a roof but it was freezing . Disappointing the cafe isn't dog friendly. The dog menu was just sausage.

DwD: Thanks so much for this update. Dogs used to be allowed in a covered section behind the cafe. We'll go and see what's happened there!

It's a 'motorway walk' for people driving on the M5 - and all the m/way walks are 'premium' as they come in a set of 200 walks all over the UK. There's a separate page for here that isn't premium.

We live locally so visit Weasley Country Park regulary - have a really nice kids playground, cafe (however we didnt find any dog drinking facilites so lucky we take our own bowl), car park and toilets. The walks are fantastic and brilliant views and can be as long or as short as you want.
