Superb dog-walking here, with swimming places and broad open spaces for dogs to really stretch their legs. Kids will love this place too - there's a sturdy and well-equipped pirates playground. And if you have the time, then don't miss the boat to the island ... This walk is midway between Junctions 6 and 7.

Great walk by the water
We always park on the Kirkgate side of the loch. Popular with dog walkers with plenty of grass as well as the loch. There are toilets - 20p when we visited in March 2021, and free parking. There is also a children's playground. No attractions as such on that side, but just a nice walk. The way in on this side is quite tight so I wouldn't attempt it in a motorhome but no problem otherwise.
