The small town of Montfort l'Amaury is steeped in history, and you'll find lots of the Roman Empire, as well as a castle largely destroyed by the English in the 100 years war, and a house museum of the composer of 'Bolero' - Maurice Ravel - who lived here for many years.

More perfect still is the forest walk (with more Roman villas and army camps peeping up through the trees) that's a good off-lead dog romp.
