An unhurried, neighbourly part of Derbyshire with footpath links to the Trans Pennine Trail for longer dog walks.
Free parking at all three car parks (2m height restriction). WCs inc disabled. There's a cafe with outdoor tables and big bowl of dog water, it seems to be open just in the summer. Children's play area with exciting activities. There's also a Caravan Club site here.
Part of the country park is a nature reserve, so dogs must be quiet and under control here. It's marked by the large nature artworks - seen in the photo here. Away from the reserve there's a large open area for dogs to romp in. From the top of the hill near the cafe it's said to be possible to see as far as Lincoln cathedral on a clear day. Hmmm!
There are two marked trails inside the country park. There are also signs for an interesting sounding Archaeological Way' - which we keep trying (and failing) to find.
