New Mills dog walk in the High Peak, Derbyshire

Local Covid-19 restrictions may affect the normal opening times. Please check using the contact details on the listing before making plans.

Interesting dog walk on a former railway line between New Mills and Hayfield. You can get lots more info about the railway in the Heritage Centre at New Mills.

WC at Hayfield and near Info Centre in New Mills. Shops/supermarket for snacks etc at both ends. Car park at Hayfield (at the Old Station) and New Mills.

Picnic tables at Hayfield.

You can start this route from either New Mills or Hayfield, and it's 2.5 miles between the two former stations. So 5 miles in all. There's a tourist centre at Hayfield, with free leaflets about the trail, the wildlife and the industrial past (textiles) and a map so you can see where you're going. The route itself is very simple as you just stay on the old railway.
