This is part of the Newry Canal Way, an 18 mile stretch of towpath along a disused canal starting at Portadown and ending up at the sea in Newry.
The towpath is a multi-user route, ideal for wheelchairs and buggies - and also cyclists.
Picnic provisions available in Scarva, and tea rooms too (closed Mondays).
This is the third section of the 18 mile Newry Canal Way, which goes from Scarva to Poyntz Pass.
This part of the path starts at Scarva and runs adjacent to the railway line. There are two walks, one heading north towards Portadown and the other towards Poyntz Pass. If you can get someone to pick you up at your destination, this doesn't have to be a there and back walk. Although the route always looks different from a different direction.
