Description

Predominately a flat, wide trail beside the river. Suitable for pushchairs and mobility scooters etc. if keep to the Pentewan Valley Trail route. Pentewan Valley Trail is 1 ¼ miles each way from this car park / layby, with a circular option for the surefooted walker.

Details

GPS coords for car park: 50.3054, -4.8007  The car park is small, eight cars, but there is additional parking for roughly twelve cars in the layby at its entrance. W.C., cafés, and the Ship Inn are in the village square. There is also pay-and-display parking close to the Ship Inn. The Ship Inn - O/S 018 472 offers outside benches if you fancy a pint. Staff and service were fine when we visited, well organised post lockdown. However, the food we sampled was not brilliant so maybe just stop for a relaxing beverage.

Services

Walk

Walk keeping the river at your right shoulder until signed left into the woods on.  This scenic woodland trail is predominately flat, with a ramped in and out ford crossing to add a little excitement if on a mobility scooter (or take the bridge option if less adventurous).   The path finised at the Pentewan Valley cycle hire hut which offers refreshments but no toilet facilities.  From here, you can either follow the narraw rough on the right before the cycle hut to make this into a circular walk, or turn left at the end of the lane into the village itself.  This is pretty and well serviced, making it worth a visit.

Please note the circular right hand path is not suitable for pushchairs or mobility vehicles.  The path is narrow, the ground uneven with both raised tree roots as well as minor earth slippage.
