In 2009 a church in the USA sponsored a memorial to an group of people who were trying to get away from the UK to escape persecution. After betrayals, imprisonment and endless delays the first boat finally set sail for the USA. The spot where the first attempt to escape was planned is marked here and the significance seems hardly believable. Well worth visiting, and the area around is ideal for dogs with footpath and a large grassy area to enjoy.
