A walk by the side of a lake is just the job for a hot day, and the sight of brightly coloured sails on the water sets the scene for relaxation perfectly. Easy to manage paths are fine for wheelchairs and buggies, and dog facilities have been carefully thought through too.
Pay & Display car park with disabled spaces, WCs, information centre (Summer only), drinks machine, free poo bags. Friends of the park sometimes open a cafe, but not often. Opening times: 09:30 - 1630
There are two options here: to the left, or to the right.
If you turn right, the path expires after just over half a mile and there can be a number of anglers, although on a hot day this is the shadier option.
The path to the left takes you further, and there are fewer anglers. Start by following the path around the lake, cross over the road by the bridge after approx 0.8 mile, and continue along the very clearly marked permissive path. This is not a circular route, so you have the option to continue on the marked route for the full 5 miles or so, or to turn round whilst the lake is still in view to return to the visitor centre.
