This is a 'there and back' Public Footpath walk through some charming countryside, starting in a village with a ford, ducks and working water mill that looks more like a film set than a real life habitation.
Definitely worth a visit, even without a dog!
Shops and refreshments in the village of Redbourne.
When Mill is open: WC, bakery and flour shop, afternoon teas on Sundays. The bread and flour is really good. Opening times and visitor information is on their website - click te link below.
River ford adjacent to Mill with clean water for dog drinking and swimming.
Walk length: 1.2 miles
The Mill lies on the Ver Valley walk route, part of the Hertfordshire Way.
From the car park turn left to the ford over the stream and follow the Footpath signs into a field.
Keeping the hedge on your left, walk along this path around the field, ignoring the footpath to your left half way through the field, until you reach a further waymarker sending you to the left.
Now keep the hedge to your right, and skirt around Harmondshead Wood. There is a fantastic view from here.
The path continues to a farm and golf course, so turn around here and retrace your steps to the Mill.
