A beautiful walk in the New Forest, the forest trail is clearly marked and is a 2.5 mile circuit of the woods. Plenty of free car parking and toilets. Nearby is Wilverley Plain, large open fields with wild ponies grazing and plenty of space to exercise energetic dogs.
One of the best walks in the New Forest, you can often see buzzards, squirrels and deer. Dogs can be walked off lead. There are several other good dog walks nearby, Longslade Bottom and Horseshoe bottom are quite close too - to get to these go past the entrance to Wilverley Inclosure, then take the next Right hand turning, then follow the road for half a mile or so and Horshoe Bottom car park is on the left. Longslade bottom car park is about a mile further along the road, also on the left.
From A35, traveling from Lyndhurst towards Christchurch, after 7 miles take the Burley / Brockenhurst turning, then after 200 yards turn right at the T junction. Follow the road towards Brockenhurst, after 1mile of so go over cattle grid, road goes slightly left and uphill. After 400 yds or so look out for dirt road on the left which leads to Wilverley Inclosure car park. The Forest Trail (2.5 miles) begins at the gate which is marked for the scout camp.
For Wilverley Plain turn right at the car park and continue along the road for 400 yards or so, car parking is to the left after the toilet block.
