A12 Country Park dog walk near Danbury, Essex
This is a very tranquil place where dogs can enjoy a walk around the lakes, meadows and woods in the grounds of a former palace. There's also a walled garden to admire.

A very out of the way riverside picnic spot with access to the river for hot dogs. There's nothing going on in the village, although it was home to the 18th century poet William Knox.
National trust gardens and house. Dog specific circular walk, cafe, toilets. Excellent stop off from junction 27 of M5, especially if heading for Cornwall
This quirky pub is a bit like stepping into a time warp. A bit Marmite, but it's a popular place and dog-friendly. Certainly an experience!
This is one of my favourite castles on the Welsh/English border. It's perfect for a gentle stroll with the dog, a boisterous game site for travel-weary kids or even a romantic picnic.
Very useful stop-off for walkies point if you're heading south from Edinburgh and there are shops in the town to grab picnic supplies.

Pendine is famous for its long, flat sandy beach backed by dunes.
A country inn that's full of charm. Warm and comforting in winter, open and spacious in summer. Since we visited the management has changed at least twice - we think it's still dog-friendly.
Thatched dog-friendly village inn, tidily placed behind a picket fence. This is on the A1120 tourist route and is a friendly and welcoming establishment. No dog walk unfortunately.
Wooded valley with extensive dog walks and free parking
