Castle with waterfalls and a lot of history, Scotland
There's plenty to explore here for dogs and also kids and the curious. The castle is the draw for many, but we enjoyed the trails and waterfalls which form the valley.

An idyllic walk with the dog that's just perfect for either a long, long walk or just a comfort break before or after the ferry to Tarbert.
Dogs are welcome in the estate gardens and also the cafe. The castle is a very good family plus dog day out on the isle of Arran.
A beach that bears the brunt of the power of the Atlantic, with huge dunes to show how the water continually shapes the land here.
A great dog walk to the east of Stoke, and within easy reach of the A52. No facilities here, but marvellous walking.
A National Trust hall and extensive grounds.
A dog-friendly and relaxed waterside inn by the river. It has a large car park and easy access to good dog walks by the river.
A wonderful beach with lots of sand, space for dogs to play and dash in and out of the water. You may also be able to spot traces of a prehistoric forest if the light and tides are right.
More of a hotel than a pub but you won't get a warmer, friendlier welcome anywhere else. The village is extraordinarily pretty and there are loads of great walks to enjoy in the area.
A dog walk in a well-managed forest in County Carlow. Follow the forest roads to enjoy great views across the surrounding countryside.
A walk through a forest and on to a beautiful lough. It's a bit of a challenge but well worth it and your dog will have a wonderful time sniffing among the trees and swimming in the river.
Easy to follow trails in a peaceful wood. The scenery on the longer walk is well worth the little extra effort and the dogs will love running amongst the trees.
