If you stop for a break and dog walk here, then I guarantee you'll have a certain well-known nursery rhyme as an ear worm for the rest of the day! Clue - hills and pails of water ...
This is a thriving village on an island of high ground in the middle of the levels. It has a long history, going back as far as the Iron Age, and even today has an air of importance about it.
An attractive village that was well known to the likes of John Thaw and Marvin Gaye (believe it or not).
Fabulous pub in beautiful Berkshire countryside. Dogs are very welcome and it is as popular with horse lovers as dog owners. Not too surprising as it is really close to Ascot.
Refurbished waterside inn with an emphasis on food. Dog-friendly of course, and on the River Tamar.
Wine bar / dog-friendly cafe hidden away under the Brunel bridge.
Big open space with the traces of an Iron Age fort and, apparently, the ghost of a British chieftain called Cassivellaunus who fought against the invading romans in 54AD.
On the border of Dorset and Wiltshire this is a spaniel and labrador sort of country inn, where your excellent food is likely to have been shot and foraged locally.
Glorious walk with the dog on the Dorset Downs, with fantastic views. Luckily the walk starts at the top of the hill so no steep climbs involved here.
Lovely place for a dog walk, with well tended paths and signed trails. There are dog rules, and areas where dogs must be on lead.
Absolutely in the middle of nowhere and just the place to go for silence and quality dog time. If you live nearby there are any number of paths to explore here.
