Ile Besnard beach and dog walk, Brittany, France
A splendid sandy beach that is really close to St Malo. We found it an ideal place to give the dogs a good run when you arrive from the ferry in the early morning.

A popular family and dog day out, and there's plenty to enjoy in this good-humoured and fun country park.
Marvellous and dog-friendly gardens overlooking the Thames. Just pawfect for a bit of human-time after a summer dog walk.
The beach is close to the ferry arrival from Skye, and also a really good place to spot seals. We took the dogs for a romp here and then went on to the nearby Glenelg Inn for lunch.
A wonderful choice of woodland dog walks once you've persevered down a bumpy lane! Your dog will love the space and freedom here.
A dog walk with a birds eye view of the Cromarty Firth and the Moray Firth too.
I was charmed by the warmth and comfort inside this dog-friendly waterside inn. The food gets regular rave reviews, and service is swift and pleasant.
Quaint little harbour village with a dog-friendly pub, a pretty dog-friendly cafe and playgrounds for kids to enjoy. If you're camping, there's also a CAMC club site on the seafront.
The abbey ruins are closed, in the sense that a fence prevents access to the walls.
A lovely country pub that's dog-friendly and close by the A413. Such a shame that access to several really excellent dog walks is blocked by a railway line on one side and a river on the other.
Outstanding lakeside gardens with access to watersports on Windermere and a National Trust cafe and car park. On a sunny day what could be better than a cream tea in this tranquil setting?
A former drovers' inn that dates back to the 13th century, and that seems totally incredible. But it's still providing hungry travellers with great food and a warm welcome.
