Dorridge Wood local dog walk, West Midlands
Larger than it seems to be at first, this is one of Jem's favourites. There's woodland, a stream, a big play area for children - and lots of space.

Thurlestone Beach is owned by the National Trust (along with South Milton beach) and it's a recognised Area of Outstanding Beauty. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round.
About 5 miles north of Dunvegan. Follow a farm track down to the beach (about 25 mins, look out for sheep and cows), which is an amazing white colour that makes the sea look turquoise.
Shingly beach where dogs are allowed in restricted areas in season - see local signs to find out what the rules are this year.
Mexico Towans is part of a long sandy stretch between the Hayle estuary and Gwithian. Dogs are allowed all year round.
Dog heaven for walkies here in the forest. And it's ideal for a long day out walk if you're staying near Scarborough and the dog just needs some green space.
This walk is 0.9 mile, mainly flat terrain. The Royal Inn has plenty of outside eating benches with gazebo covering. Currently open for business from noon each day.
Dogs allowed on the beach all year. It's a long secluded sandy beach with steep cliffs. At low tide there's loads of space for dogs to go completely bonkers.
Flat but interesting dog walk on the waterways' equivalent of spaghetti junction.
Near junction of A9 and A86 Stumbled across this little gem by accident while looking for somewhere else. Dogs need to be kept on lead around this lovely little nature reserve based around two ponds.
These woodlands have been created over the site of a colliery - but today it's hard to find traces of the industrial past.
You start with an unrivalled view of 16 counties, the dog can go nuts on the many paths, and then there's the very lovely Morris and Brown cafe to come back to. Perfect!
