M5 Junction 16 dog walk and pub, Gloucestershire
A half-hour or so meander with the dog through this secluded village wood on public footpaths makes a great time-out moment from the M5.

A brilliant dog friendly pub just of the M5. Just by Gordano Services. Dogs are allowed in the tiled bar area. Food is above average and service is great. Walks in nearby Prior wood are excellent.
Relaxing homely bar area with sofas and a fabulous view over the Severn estuary and Wales. Can get crowded at busy travel times.
An interesting stop, with a good farm shop and the chance to buy some freshly-made cider direct from the brewery.
The pub is deceptive - bigger inside than you'd think from the car park, and it's strong on food too. The walk is an easy one to find, and dogs get a good off-lead run.
Country pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere, and an appetite rousing aroma of good food.
The riverside path here is some 2.5m wide with plenty of dog romping space and an abundance of wildlife. This is probably as close as it gets to Wind in the Willows land, a magical walk.
A towpath walk along the pretty and well-tended canalside.
There's a choice of two water walks in this sleepy village, both quiet and tranquil. There are a couple of small shops in the village for picnic supplies, and the Bell is dog-friendly in the bar.
Good to know about this dog-friendly hostelry just off the A38 and also close to M5 Junction 26.
Lovely dog-welcoming pub, close to lots of walking trails in the Blackdown Hills
A large, friendly village pub backing onto the Grand Western Canal. Absolutely great for dogs, kids and walkers.
