A volunteer-run and dog-friendly heritage railway that's a short hop from the A95 and a wonderful place to take a break from the driving. They have three stations, Broomhill, Boat of Garten and Aviemore.

The railway is seasonal, so it's worth checking the timetable carefully to plan a "spontaneous" stop. Dogs not allowed in First Class or the DIning car. You can also enjoy a walk from the station on the Speyside Way, heading North towards Grantown-on-Spey
