In the pawprints of  James Bond

In the pawprints of  James Bond

From the picturesque landscapes of Scotland to the gentle countryside of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, here are five iconic and dog-friendly James Bond filming locations in the UK that have left audiences shaken and stirred.

Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland The stunning Eilean Donan Castle made its appearance in The World Is Not Enough as the backdrop for the fictional MI6 headquarters in Scotland. The dramatic setting against the rugged Highland landscape makes it an unforgettable location in Bond history. The grounds of the castle are dog-friendly and dogs can get in for a cooling dip too.  For more dog-friendly places to visit in the area, check out Driving with Dogs.

Glencoe, Scotland Scotland's natural beauty took centre stage in Skyfall, with the picturesque Glencoe serving as the backdrop for Bond's ancestral home, Skyfall Lodge. The misty mountains and serene lochs create a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere that's ideal for a mooch with the pooch. There are plenty of walks close to the filming locations on Driving with Dogs.

Stoke Park, Buckinghamshire This luxurious country club served as the backdrop for the famous golf match between Bond and Goldfinger in the classic film Goldfinger. Obviously there isn't a dog walk on the golf course itself but there are plenty of other places to visit very close by on Driving with Dogs.

Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire One of England's grandest stately homes, Blenheim Palace played a key role in Spectre. The palace doubled as the headquarters of MI6, where Bond and M discuss their mission. The grounds of Blenheim Palace are a delight to explore with the dog and you'll dog-friendly refreshments nearby too.

Loch Craignish, Scotland One of the great early scenes in 007's film history was the motorboat chase off the coast of Turkey in From Russia With Love. Can you believe this was actually filmed on Loch Craignish, very close to Crinan? It's a wonderful part of the country for dog walks.

The Driving with Dogs team really enjoyed exploring these iconic James Bond filming locations across the UK and we're sure you'll enjoy them too.   From the majestic landscapes of Scotland to the splendour of the Oxfordshire countryside, these destinations are just great for families with dogs, fans with dogs, or dogs who have no idea about James Bond! So why not build a cinematic adventure through the UK's Bond legacy into your road trip? Then next time you watch one of these Bond films, keep an eye out for these British gems that have contributed to the enduring allure of James Bond and think to yourself "I've been there".
