Unique dog-friendly holiday cottage

Unique dog-friendly holiday cottage

If staycation means going somewhere to do all the usual domestic stuff but without the gizmos and efficiency of home, you may well ask "why bother?"

The Driving with Dogs team have researched some totally unique dog-friendly holiday properties that are guaranteed to give you a truly different experience. Here's the first unique holiday home and it's a romantic hideaway in Suffolk.

This is a thatched forester's cottage, set within its own meadow and surrounding woodland deep in the Yox valley.  The cottage comes without electricity so guests can experience undisturbed peace and a real sense of bygone time. Don't worry, the Esse wood-fired range cooker in the kitchen and dining area expertly heats the cottage and provides endless piping-hot water. In keeping with the character of the property there is also an original bread oven, a classic porcelain butler sink, stable door and antique table seating four.

Creature comforts abound in the roar of a log fire, the fairy-tale bedroom and quirky bathroom complete with luxurious roll-top bath. The romantic experience continues in the bedroom with its king-size bed complete with fairy-tale canopy and beautiful period features such as leaded windows and wood flooring. The cottage lies inside 4,500 acres of parkland, so bring your binoculars as this is a haven for wildlife.

If the idea of cooking on the wood-fired range fills you with dread, an additional concierge service is available upon request which can include a chef, or bespoke spa treatments.  You'll also find an outdoor swimming pool (April-October) and tennis court.

The cottage is suitable for two people and one incredibly lucky dog. For more details, or just to feast your eyes on this stunning and luxurious holiday home, click Forester's Cottage.
