Dog-friendly old coaching inn, and a fine traditional market town with easy access to dog walks. Well worth planning a stop here when you're driving on the A65.
Parking in one of the public car parks nearby.
You have the choice between the Pennine Bridleway or the High Dales Way long distance routes here. Both are well signed and easy to follow. The starting place is the same and then the Dalesway forks off. Start from the signs by Tourist Information and go as far as you wish. It's really worth spending a weekend here and getting the best of the walking. This is really something special.
