Popular pub stop for walkers and cyclists on the Coast to Coast path, as well as very handy dog-friendly pub for drivers on the A66 near Threlkeld. No frills, large portions of pub grub and a friendly outdoorsy feel.

You could walk uphill from the back of the pub, but there are sheep all over the lower slopes and we didn't see the point. The gated lane from beyond the pub is a much safer option for a sheep-free doggie comfort break. Cyclists are the main hazard as this is Cycle Route 71.
