A69 Roman Temple of Mithras dog walk, Northumberland
On the rainswept day we were here it was hard to imagine Roman soldiers getting excited about Mithraic rituals here, let alone bull sacrifices and pagan fun.

Local legends say that this valley was created by the Devil.
Wee cafe offering good value breakfast and lunch, yummy scones, cakes and really-really good coffee :)
The most dog friendly pub we've ever visited. Fantastic food and you will find at least one dog under most tables. Treats and water bowls available.
Forestry woodlands for dogs to zoom around the trees, ears flapping. Lovely safe space for dog walks.
A peaceful nature reserve where you can relax and enjoy the sounds of birdsong and chirruping insects. It's a delightful spot for a gentle stroll with the dog and a picnic.
Lots for dogs to enjoy in the 235 acres of this gorgeous park. Much of it is wild meadow (avoid in hay fever season if you're a sufferer).
Glorious historic pub in the centre of Droitwich. Dog-friendly of course, and tasty pies.
If you have an interest in the Reivers of the borderlands between Scotland and England then a dog walk starting from the graveyard where 'Rob Roy' MacGregor is buried is a great option.
A large deer park within easy access of the A12 near Harold Hill. It's a great place for an on-lead dog walk, and you get big views over London.
This dog friendly Beach goes on for miles. We did 8 miles. Up the beach and back down the woods. Fabulous trip out.
We had high hopes for a dog swim in the loch here, but access wasn't easy so we had a fine cup of coffee in the cafe and aimed elsewhere for the walkies.
