Dogs' delight in winter, less so in summer! Walking through ancient broadleaf trees on clear paths, really easy to follow and with scents that dogs just adore.
In Reading we have a superb (big) park - it is dog friendly.

Close to the M20 Jct 4, the dog walking paths in this country park are easy to walk. There's one marked footpath which goes through copses of trees with a wide grassy area. Nice.
Restaurant/Country pub with masses of parking, expensive menu but accepts dogs into the bar area and gardens. Fresh water for the doggies on request.

There's 360 acres of parkland to explore here, and a marked trail through the woodland that goes past some of the historical natural and manmade features of the park.

If you're heading straight from the ferry terminal to the motorway south, then this is the first chance for the pooch to do a bit of scratching and sniffing on French soil.
Dogs are welcome on the beach here, with one marked section that's 'on-lead' only. The rest is open for doggy fun time. The castle is worth an explore too - well ruined, but atmospheric.
