This fine old building has been an inn for over 300 years and the flagstones must have some stories to tell.
Before we stopped here, I had no idea that this small town is the source of the county name of Somerset and was the capital of historic Wessex.

A dog-friendly pub in the centre of a small Georgian market town, and a couple of doors away from a vet clinic. There's a fabulous country park walk nearby for long walkies.
Bakery, Deli & Cafe. Lovely cakes and fresh bread. Dogs welcome inside and there's benches outside too. Take away also available. Pretty village with plenty of countryside walks from the village.
This is a really old 14th century pub that oozes Thames-side history. The food is lovely and dogs get a good welcome in the bar.
A roadside inn that is dog-friendly and easy to find. Parking is either just before the building, or opposite depending on your direction of travel. Either way take care on this busy road.
Great community cafe with deli./shop. We stopped here en route to West Sussex from Dorset, so more or less halfway on journey. Not far from main road so very easy & convenient stop-off.
