Well, Henry the 8th certainly wrote the rulebook on cultural vandalism. And here is an atmospheric reminder.
Park by the side of the road at the end of Zinc Works Road and walk along the track through the dunes to the large dog friendly beach which is tidal. Dogs are welcome all year round.
A visit here is a bit like stumbling onto the filmset of Robin Hood and finding Richard the Lionheart heading towards you. Just so fantastically old.

Gorgeous thatched building where dogs are welcome. It's a handy place to take a driving break and not far from the A15 and the centre of Peterborough.

A wide, long sandy beach which is ideal for dogs to let off steam. There is a dog-friendly bar a short walk away.
Forestry Commission forest with its very own UFO trail, created to celebrate UFO sightings in the 1980s. Plenty of other paths also available and this is a fabulous family and dog walking space.
