This can be either a beach walk, or a trail through the adjacent nature reserve.
A lovely woodland walk - dog safe for off lead walking, paths round the woods, mostly gravelled path round the outside or other paths for the more adventurous walker.
Short, and pleasant walk through a bird sanctuary. The visitor centre has lots of interesting info, and there's plenty for kids to do (apart from walking the dog).
Hardwick Hall near Sedgefield. Now a country hotel and grounds but used to be a stately home. Fantastic paved walks, flat and easy. Lakeside and woodland walk, follies and sculptures.
A former clay pit that has been transformed into a fine country park. It's an excellent place for walking, particularly around the lake, and is very popular with local dog walkers.
Was this the site of the battle, or not? Either way, it's a fine space for dogs to charge around in.
This is a fantastic environment for dogs, as well as families. There is plenty of space for everyone, and an ideal stopping point before heading into one of the big cities.
Dogs will relish the freedom of this woodland, which dates way back to early times. And afterwards, there's a lovely atmosphere at the dog-friendly village pub. Ticks all the boxes!
