M60 Junction 16 doggiestop, Greater Manchester
This Country Park between Manchester and Bolton is a haven of calm even though it's so close to the motorway. On the day we visited the air was pungent with the scent of wild flowers.

There are three signed trails for dogs to enjoy, all well signed from the visitor centre and easy to reach from the car park.

Trendy but dog-friendly pub in heart of popular suburb. Great choice of Real Ales and Craft Beers which change regularly
Modern rustic inn with a good food offering for hungry (or not-so) drivers on the M56. Dogs welcome.
Genuine, nice and dog-friendly inn with plenty of history behind it. We thought the meals were great value, and definitely recommend their Fish Fridays. Easy to get to from the M6/20 and the A56 too
Reliably dog-friendly pub/restaurant that has a dog walk almost from the door. Not far off the A34 for a doggiestop near Wilmslow.
An exhilarating moorland walk that's marvellous for dog walking, and a well-heated pub with home cooking to warm up in afterwards. Note that dogs aren't allowed inside the pub.

We had an excellent breakfast here and there is a nearby walk along the river Bollin we intend to do later. The staff are friendly, the food was good and best of all, they do dog sausages
