A quiet and restful walk along the side of the River Lostock in a less-visited section of this vast country park. You can get here easily from the M6 too.

A perfect family day out, with a genuine Ice Age experience and easy to follow walking paths.
Long sandy beach. You can park on the beach most days but there's an all day parking charge.
On the early summer morning we visited this luscious park there was no one else around, and the birds were chorusing loudly in the woods.
Accessed within seconds of leaving the A50 heading towards Leicester, this is a great stop off. If you're peckish, turn left into the village where there's a chip shop and a coop.
Just one mile from the motorway, a great place for dogs to have free running.
A pebble beach, and dogs are allowed all year round in special dog-exercise area.
Dogs are welcome on most of the beach here all year round.
Accessible by car, there are 2 beautiful reservoirs set in the Pentland park which overlooks Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. The views are amazing.
