This walk follows the course of a river, and ducks underneath the M6 to emerge at the site of an ancient motte and bailey fortress in the middle of the water.

Close to both the A303 and the A34 we stumbled on this dog walk and dog-friendly inn while trying to find a dogwalk at the Sutton Scotney services on the A34.

The riverside path here is some 2.5m wide with plenty of dog romping space and an abundance of wildlife. This is probably as close as it gets to Wind in the Willows land, a magical walk.

This historic village is a fantastic place for dogs, and kids of all ages from 4 to 94. The dunes and beach behind the massive castle are wide and spacious enough for the most energetic hound.
The first thing to notice about this village is the enormous village green. And then, lurking beyond the green are the ruins of an old castle. And the resident dogs - lots of them!
