Lovely relaxing dog walk along the Birmingham and Fazeley canal towpath, with side paths into a nature reserve. The towpath is well-maintained and clean underfoot.

A short with the dog to see the site of the castle where Mary Queen of Scots lost her head. It seems a forlorn grassy lump these days but the castle was significant some 400 years ago.
Long walks along beach in two directions with sands and clay cliffs. Tidal river and when the tide is in there's not so much space for walking. Dogs allowed at any time of day and all year round.

Sometimes you find a little place that is absolutely gorgeous, for no particular reason.
Dog walking heaven in the forest, with 5 trails to choose from as well as plenty of space to strike out on your own. The forest is a wonderful walking spot at any time of the year.

This is doggy dashing paradise on a section of the Pennine Way long distance footpath. Despite the lack of facilities for drivers, for active dogs this really is as good as it gets.

Parkland, woodland and formal Edwardian gardens. Several defined walks around the estate such as the Captain Wood Walk, suitable for prams or the Boundary trail, with open views of the countryside.
National Trust property off the A50 and the A34. Free parking and fantastic free running for dogs and a stream running through the middle for a paddle and a drink.
Delightful woodland dog walk, ideal for doggie sniffing and scampering. The paths are easy on the feet and there's a pleasant sense of calm.
A mixture of woods and heathland in this park, with a hill to climb for the more energetic. Those who do climb the hill will be rewarded with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside.

Phoenix Park is a popular local dog walk, over what used to be the Hickleton Colliery. There are now sculptures and installations as a reminder of its history and a network of paths around the park.
Robin Hood might lift an eyebrow or two at this largely coniferous plantation being called 'Sherwood Forest' - but the dog certainly won't mind.

One of the Canal and River Trust's set of walks along the towpath of the Pocklington Canal. Volunteers have done an amazing job of cleaning the canal up, and it's well worth a visit.

National Trust owned beach with no restrictions on dogs all year round. The beach car park is on the coast road between Abbotsbury and Burton Bradstock (the B3157).
Glorious walking in a far corner of Windsor Great Park. The lake is lovely, and it's been used in the Harry Potter films - and the village nearby is home to many celebrity dog owners!

A dog walk at the southern end of Ayr beachfront giving access to Greenan shore. Great views over to Arran and Ailsa Craig.
This is a more people-centred walk than usual, as Warwick is such a big tourist attraction.
Parc Glynllifon is a small country park easily reached from the A499 from Caernarvon.
Junction 3
There are three signed routes within the park, all starting from the visitor centre and all are hilly. The view from the top is fabulous - and a great spot to blow away the travel cobwebs.
This is a lovely 5 mile / 2 hour walk - ideal for a visit to Broadway as there's plenty to do and see after your walk too. The walk has around 9 stiles, mostly quite easy for dogs to manage.

Brilliant place for a decent length walk with the dogs, and usually not many people around during the week.
Cemaes has two beaches, and dogs are allowed on the westerly beach all year round. Most of the sand is on the other beach - but the west beach is great for rock pooling.

Follow a choice of three different length circular walks from the car park or mix-and-match where they converge at the picnic spot. Beautiful woodland, especially stunning in Autumn.

Fabulous combination of a big sandy beach, and access to a long distance footpath too. Very popular with local dog-walkers, and pure doggie delight for the pooch.
A dog walk on a forest track without sheep or stiles. It's not the most scenic of walks, but the dog won't mind and as there's only the one track navigation isn't a problem.

A large almost totally enclosed area right next to J1 of the M32. At the top of the hill (on the Western side) is a lightly wooded area with good trails. There is plenty of space for dogs to run here!
Good for dogs, on the beach and also on public footpaths and lanes.
Rockham Bay is fabulously remote and just off the Tarka Trail footpath between Lee and Grunta Bay - so it's an ideal place to combine a long walk with a sarnie stop and swimming.

This former haven of highwaymen and smugglers is now a popular destination for local dog walkers. It's a mix of woodland and heathland with an extensive system of bridleways and small paths.

Newly created swathe of green that is intended to be a recreation space for dog walkers, joggers, cyclists and walkers.
